Alfredo Alvara was a loving, caring, fun husband to Lucina and father of three daughters (Aurora, Elizabeth, Carolina) and a son (Alfredo). According to his daughters, he was a “hard-working man who always put a smile on our faces, whether it was taking us to a school, river, park, swimming, or simply dining out. We would always laugh and had good times. He loved baseball and soccer and encouraged us to join a soccer team.”
On February 2, 2003, 42-year old Alfredo was in a fatal auto accident on the way to his daughters’ soccer match. When his family arrived at the hospital, a representative from OneLegacy asked them if they wanted to donate his organs. Not knowing his wishes, as a family they decided to say “yes” to donation.
“Our lives changed completely after our father’s death, because we never imagined we would ever experience his loss so soon. But we also never thought we would ever honor my dad after death in such a special way by giving the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.”
Alfredo’s donation saved two lives. |
