Audrey Sullenger was only three days old when she suddenly stopped breathing. Her mother, Felicia Hill, had been holding her first-born child, but nothing could be done to save her. In the midst of her own grief, Felicia saw that Audrey could help others. On May 7, 2011, Audrey was able to donate her organs and tissue. Her tiny heart saved a three-week-old infant whose transplant occurred on Mother's Day. Audrey's kidneys meant a 38-year-old woman could finally be free of dialysis. "Audrey lived six short days, but she forever lives in many hearts!" Felicia proclaimed.

Audrey's Story

Audrey Jade Hope Sullenger was born April 30, 2011, a healthy 7 pounds, 7 ounces. The joy her mother Felicia Hill experienced was short-lived. Just three days after Audrey's birth, as Felicia held her in her arms, Audrey stopped breathing.

Doctors said the grim reality was the Felicia's first-born daughter would not survive. But in the midst of the loss of her beloved Audrey, the young mother decided her child's brief life would have purpose. On May 7, 2011, Audrey became an organ and tissue donor. "I have always been about other people and Audrey was also," Felicia confirmed. "Audrey was born to save others."

For a three-week old infant in Canada, the decision would literally mean life. The baby's own heart was weakened, and her life would be cut short without a new heart, which the baby girl received on Mother's Day. Audrey's kidneys freed a California mother from dialysis.

Since then, Felicia has seen the good that has come from Audrey's gifts. She has met the California woman freed from dialysis as the result of receiving new kidneys. And Felicia has embraced the Canadian mother whose own baby was facing an uncertain future until Audrey's gift of a new heart.

Felicia proclaimed that "Audrey lived six short days but she forever lives in many hearts!"
