Tanya Lyvonne Austin died at age 27 from a brain aneurysm on October 27, 2001. Her family struggled with a decision about organ donation, but knowing Tanya’s spirit of giving, they said “yes.” That struggle ended when her mother Evonne found Tanya’s driver’s license which indicated her wish to be a donor. “At that moment, I felt like the world had been lifted off my shoulders,” recalled Evonne. “I can see her smiling from heaven telling me I did the right thing.” She now volunteers with Donate Life South Carolina and shares her personal story with others to spread the word about the need for more organ and tissue donors. |
