On June 7, 2007, 14-year-old Dalton Barnes was killed in a tragic car accident while coming home from church. He loved competing in track meets, reading and deep-sea fishing.
Dalton’s family decided to help others by donating his corneas, skin and bones. “The thought that someone could see the world through Dalton’s eyes and that burn victims could be helped by using his skin made the decision very easy,” said his mother Jodi. They also established a college scholarship fund in Dalton’s memory at South Hills High School, which he would have attended.
Said Jodi, “Dalton always wanted to attend the Rose Parade one day. To think that his picture and story will be viewed by millions during this event is beyond belief.” |
