Blessed with athletic abilities, Brian Scott Campbell loved to play football, ride motocross, snowboard and water ski. He had tremendous love, loyalty, and devotion and an incredible zest for life. Brian had a unique ability to see the needs of others and was consistently there to help the young and the old. This was never more apparent than when, at age 17, he had a brain hemorrhage and died. Just six months prior to his death, he had told his family that he wanted to register as an organ donor to help save others. On January 9, 2001, Brian profoundly changed six lives by donating his heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and pancreas.

Brian's Story

Brian Scott Campbell was blessed with athletic abilities. He loved to play football, ride motocross, snowboard and water ski. He was courageous and had tremendous love, loyalty and devotion, as well as an incredible zest for life. Brian had a unique ability to see the needs of others and was consistently there to help the young and the old. This was never more apparent than when, six months prior to his death, he told his mother, and made his wishes clear to his family, that he wanted to register as an organ donor to help save others.

At six months old, Brian had brain surgery that unknowingly caused scar tissue to attach to his skull. One evening, while hanging with his friends, he bumped his head causing the scar tissue to tear which triggered a brain hemorrhage.

More than 100 of Brian's friends crowded the hospital chapel for three days praying for a miracle. The community brought sleeping bags and food so his friends could stay close to him and continue the vigil. More testing was done, and it was determined that 17-year-old Brian was brain dead.

On January 9, 2001, Brian profoundly changed six lives by donating his heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and pancreas. His family and friends will forever treasure the extraordinary time shared with this very special young man. Even though Brian's life on earth was far too short, the memory of his laughter and joy still greatly contribute to the happiness of his family and friends.
