Sarah Maria Braun’s favorite things were the Green Bay Packers, N’SYNC, Winnie the Pooh, shopping and her dog Mollie. At the University of Northern Iowa, she was studying to be a social worker with an emphasis in special education. On January 17, 2002, 21-year old Sarah died from a severe neural blockage. She had signed up with the Iowa Donor Registry when she obtained her driver’s license. Her family now corresponds with two of the organ recipients and are grateful that something positive has come out of such a tragic situation.
