Kasey Burleson was an ambitious junior in high school who planned to graduate a semester early so she could enter college. She died in November 2005 from a tragic car accident. Her parents, who are both registered organ donors, were not aware that their daughter was, too, until they checked her driver’s license. She donated tissue, bone marrow, and five organs that saved four lives. Kasey’s parents have met two of the organ recipients. According to her mother Marsha, “They have not only been helpful to us in our attempt to go on without Kasey, but have reminded us how proud we are of our daughter.”
