Julie De Rossi was a free-spirited 44-year-old mother whose careers included racecar driving, interior design and managing musicians. On March 18, 2004, 5’6”, 140-pound Julie was killed by a drunk driver and became an organ and tissue donor, helping at least 35 people. One of those people was 6’5”, 230- pound Carson Palmer, star quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, whose knee was severely injured from a crushing tackle. Julie’s tissue donation helped the former Heisman Trophy winner recover from his knee injury. Julie’s son, Aaron Hehr, and mother, Dorothy Hyde, believe she would have been thrilled that so many people, including a famous athlete, are benefiting from her donation. |
