Eitan's Story

Eitan Djiji was an entertainer and thoroughly convinced that he would one day be a famous actor. He had performed several times at the Improv in West Hollywood as well as in Las Vegas and Brea. He also had commercial and acting roles to his credit.

Tragically, 14-year-old Eitan died as the result of a house fire on August 10, 2010. He was resuscitated and placed on life support, but after 24 hours it was determined that he would never recover.

"We had never discussed organ donation but we knew it was the right thing to do," said Eitan's mother Polly. "Eitan would have chosen to do it if we could have asked him." Eitan's liver and kidneys were transplanted to three recipients, immediately changing the lives of them and their families for the better. His heart valves were also donated, to be used if needed at a later date.

"We only had 14 years with Eitan but they were spectacular," recalled Polly. "In his first standup routine he talked about his name and the trouble people had pronouncing it: "Ethan", "Anton", "Satan" – but he was Eitan.

"Eitan was Entertaining, a natural comedian who laughed at himself along with everyone else; Important to his family, his friends and everyone who knew him; Talented, with absolute confidence in himself; Annoying, repetitive, loud and persistent; and Nosey, genuinely wanting to know what people were doing and how they were feeling. Altogether, he was quite a character."

Eitan is forever loved and missed by his parents, brother and two sisters, his extended family and so many friends, all of whom are very proud that he was an organ donor.
