Cecil spent a lot of time helping others in need. One day, after viewing a TV show about organ and tissue donation, he decided to sign up as a donor. His decision was reinforced when his son-in-law, who had been on dialysis for years, received a new kidney in 1999. On November 12, 2002, Cecil Anthony Evans Sr. died at the age of 54 after suffering a massive stroke. His liver went to a 63-year old mother and grandmother, while his other organs were donated for medical research. A year later, she sent a thank-you note to Cecil’s wife, Beverly, who was very grateful that the recipient reached out to her. |
