Born February 28, 1982, Jemil Jamison had a “giving and loving spirit” while growing up in South Los Angeles for 16 years. That spirit was stilled on April 2, 2002 when he was hit by an SUV while crossing the street. Clutching her son’s hand in the intensive care unit, his mother Denise felt the comfort of her oldest son’s most admirable trait, a willingness to share with others. She made the decision to donate his organs, and in doing so he saved five lives. “One year later I met Jesus Nava, the recipient of Jemil’s heart, and what a blessing it truly was. He allowed me to hear my son’s heart beat with tears in his eyes and mine,” Denise shared. “Jemil was a giver of love and his love lives on in the gifts of life he has shared with others.”
