Robert Somerville was only 17 when he died from an accidental head injury. His parents donated five of his organs, saving four lives. His mother, Michelle Lester, has carried on the spirit of giving by co-founding the Donor Family Network, a support group for donor families. Michelle used her donation experience to help new families. “We thought we could help them by showing them we were making it through,” she said. Michelle also works part time with Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, where she has helped to create an aftercare program for donor families.
