Shawn Wero was a giving person and lived life to the fullest. He was gentle, strong and talented. He was quick to establish friendships; he was so helpful, always going the extra way to help someone. Shawn Wero truly was a gift not only to his family, his Navajo People, but even to strangers. After suffering a brain hemorrhage caused by a fall, his final noble gesture was the donation of his organs. Inspired by his sister Sabrina's donation of a kidney to their father, he knew it was a chance for others to keep their loved ones just a little while longer.


Shawn's Story

Shawn Wero was a giving person and lived life to the fullest. He was a hard and fun worker. He was gentle, strong and talented. He was very informal, impromptu, and carefree. His smile was dynamic and mesmerizing. He was quick to establish friendships; he was so helpful, always going the extra way to help someone. All these qualities clearly reflect the beautiful human being Shawn was.

Shawn started his formal education in Bloomfield, N.M. His childhood and teen years were filled with constant companions of friends. He had a passion for sports. His hard work and commitment brought him recognition throughout his junior high and high school years. Shawn's enthusiasm for baseball and football never left him.

Shawn Wero truly was a gift not only to his family, his Navajo People, but even to strangers. His final noble gesture was the donation of his organs. After suffering a brain hemorrhage caused by a fall, he gave the gift of life so others would live. Shawn was inspired to be a donor by his sister Sabrina, who was a living donor of a kidney to their father. He knew it was a chance for others to keep their loved ones just a little while longer. He was not selfish; he was giving of himself, loving life.
