Trevor Frisch was just three days old when he became an organ donor on April 16, 1998; he was born brain-dead. At the time, his mother, Kristine Clemmons, vowed that no one would ever forget his name.

Trevor’s memory continues in the lives of two very healthy little girls and their families. His liver went to a young girl in Utah, and his heart went to 11-day-old Hannah Grinnan in Redlands, CA. Hannah had been born with the congenital heart disease known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). That same disease had killed a brother many years earlier.

“Through this death, I have learned that life is too precious to ignore the need for organ donation,” said Kristine. “We are proud of Trevor and how his life had purpose. I hope his short life inspires others who hear his story to make the right choice about organ donation.”

The two families met after Hannah’s story aired on CBS in July 1998, which generated more than 100,000 hits to the CBS website for information on how to become an organ donor. Hannah, now a healthy, active 12-year-old, will be a rider on this year’s Donate Life float.

“We are blessed to be able to watch Trevor’s recipients grow up into beautiful healthy and happy girls,” added Kristine. “His life may have been short-lived, but his purpose is a testimony to the gift of life and the joy that can come from the sorrow.”
