Trever Ryan Tremayne was a very kind, big-hearted man with a bright, engaging smile and beautiful blue eyes. He was a true “horse whisperer,” nurturing his horses and proud of his ability to break and train them when others could not. He loved his dogs, one part wolf/shepherd, another part shepherd/malamute, and raised them to be extremely sweet and gentle.

An avid fly fisherman, Trever loved the South Fork Lodge on the Snake River, his last job and residence. He also worked as a veterinary tech, a wrangler, a horseback trail guide, and hotel maintenance and hospitality clerk. Trever deeply respected the earth as a total ecosystem and the interrelationship among all animals, plants, geology, weather and humankind; he believed all living beings had a spiritual relationship. He believed in Karma and felt there is a reason for the significant events (wonderful or tragic) that occur in all our lives, and that something good would always come from those events.

“Trever’s friendships were so very important to him, and his family was his foundation through his troubled and good times,” said Trina Rackham Tremayne, his mother, best friend and guardian angel. “He suffered with mental illness and valiantly struggled to become and remain independently self-supporting and not be a burden to society, striving to be a productive citizen, a difficult task during the extreme cycles of his disease. It was a testament to his integrity.”

Trever had an extremely creative mind which gave him an inordinate ability to make or find the perfectly appropriate personal gifts at the best times, according to Trina. Befitting his giving personality, he chose to be an organ donor early in adult life. He died at age 30.

Trever’s gifts of life – his heart, both kidneys and liver – went to four people. His heart and kidneys are still giving life. “We are comforted knowing his heart is still beating,” said Trina. “We have met the left kidney recipient and are in touch with her frequently. Trever’s liver recipient came to realize the importance of giving and established a trust just prior to his death that will provide surgery for more than 200 children to correct facial deformities. Trever’s ultimate gifts, in harmony with his beliefs, helped many more people than just the initial recipients.”
