FRANCINE’S STORY

Francine Salazar was, and still is, a beautiful and generous soul. Her mother, Hanah, is so grateful and proud to be her mother. Francine was 10 years old when she became an organ donor, donating her heart, pancreas, and both kidneys. She was a fun-loving child with a warm, beautiful smile. Francine cherished her friends, her school, and her family.

Francine loved drawing cartoons and enjoyed dancing and singing to KPOP BTS, Blackpink, and EXO. She wanted to be a cartoonist and a chef; her zest for life was contagious and Francine enriched the lives of all who crossed her path. Francine loved art and unicorns. She had a great sense of humor and lived life to its fullest. Given her generous spirit, Hanah knows Francine would gladly and unselfishly give the gift of life to those in need.

Heeding their daughter's wishes that came to them in gentle whispers from heaven above, her parents knew donating Francine's organs would save a heart broken family from experiencing the same sadness they endure daily. Francine has a great family, which includes three brothers, one sister, and countless friends. Francine's spirit lives on in her family because their love for her transcends all human frailty and understanding.

"Knowing that Francine gave the selfless gift of life to others provides my family hope in humanity," her mother says. "Shortly after Francine passed, I discovered she created a TikTok account where she recorded funny dancing videos. I like to believe these were her gifts to me to remind me of the happy life she enjoyed on earth. I miss her every day and I am humbled that Francine was chosen as a floragraph honoree for the 2021 Virtual Rose Parade. Francine loved parties and being the center of attention. She would be thrilled to know she is part of history. Our hearts will be forever changed by the gifts Francine shared with the world."

Francine's organ donation has helped her family during their grieving process. Children's lives were saved because of her gifts.
