MIKHAILL’S STORY

Mikhaill Stewart was a Navy veteran, hockey player, and motorcycle enthusiast, but his best role in life was that of dad to daughter Henley and son Maverick. He always went above and beyond to ensure his family was well taken care of. Mikhaill's top priority was spending time with his wife and children and, even after long and exhausting days at work, would devote time to enjoy one-on-one hockey lessons with Maverick or motorcycle rides with Henley.

In November 2018, Mikhaill was struck by a deer while riding his motorcycle to work the night shift at the Hanford Nuclear Site near his home in Richland, Washington. Though he was wearing a helmet and was not speeding, trauma from the accident was severe and Mikhaill died on November 7, 2018. For Mikhaill's wife, Kylie, losing her husband has been anything but easy. Kylie finds solace, however, in the fact that Mikhaill was an organ and tissue donor. She often thinks about the recipients of his generous donations and the opportunities they have been provided because of her husband's giving spirit. She finds peace in knowing that even though her husband is not physically by her side, he continues to help others through the gift of a second chance at life.

Mikhaill's legacy lives on through his children and through the recipients he was able to help through the gift of organ and tissue donation. His donated organs and tissues include kidneys, heart valves, corneas, skin, soft tissues and nerve tissues. Through donation, Mikhaill has helped many, including processed human nerve allograft recipients. His gift of nerve tissue is helping patients with nerve injuries to once again kiss, smile, hug, eat, touch, run, and feel.
