NATE’S STORY
Nate Hall, of Yukon, Oklahoma, was a unique individual – he was unlike most of his peers and had zero apologies for it. Nate was mostly serious but had a warm smile that would melt hearts. He was a hard worker and would do almost any task asked of him without complaining. He was humble and quiet – but brilliant, and he would firmly debate any topic he felt strongly about. In fact, he was in debate through his school, and won a trophy for Speaker of the Tournament but didn't make a big scene about his award. He was a great older brother; walking to the bus stop to pick up his brother so he didn't have to walk alone.
Nate loved to learn. He would study and follow his curiosities of anything he found interesting and would often write about what he learned. His family remembers him as an incredible writer.
Nate had many different interests, like most people, but had a non-negotiable and permanent commitment to being kind to animals. When he received his permit, he was driving with his mom when he quickly swerved off the road because he saw a bird fly in front of the car and wanted to protect its life.
When Nate and his family visited Rocky Mountain National Park – he would spend long periods of time just sitting and watching the elk run against the backdrop of the mountains. He liked sitting and watching alone so that he could fully take it in.
Throughout his life, Nate opened so many people's eyes to the importance of taking care of living things – whether it be sharing his vegan lifestyle or just being content with what he had. Nate had a simple wardrobe because he felt that he had everything he needed. He wouldn't ask for material things.
In keeping with his generous spirit and caring of living things, after Nate's death, he gave life to others through the gift of tissue donation. Nate was able to donate bone to reconstruct tissue and joints, heart valves to repair a malfunctioning heart, and corneas to restore sight.
