CORROUNDLET’S STORY

Who was Corroundlet Sheard? She was a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, Mother, Grandmother, friend, and donor.

Corroundlet was a woman who had her struggles and her successes in this life. She had a big heart, but you only knew that if you truly knew her. She was very protective of her feelings and family, whom she loved dearly. "Oh, and she loved gossiping on the phone." Recalls her daughter, "That was my momma!"

March 27, 2022, at 1:21 a.m., I received the call from One Legacy. My emotions were all over the place as the OneLegacy coordinator spoke, and I do not remember much of the conversation, but I heard, "Your mom was a registered donor." Overwhelmed with sadness, and then for a split second, I felt so much love, and I became very proud to hear, "My mom was a donor, and would I honor her wishes? Corroundlet said, "Yes." And I said "Yes." I will respect her wishes."

Corroundlet made her own decision to check the "yes" box to be a donor.

That one call confirmed Corroundlet's big heart. She cared for others on a deeper level, more than I even realized. She cared enough to leave behind a few blessings when she bravely decided to say "yes" so others could have a better chance in this life.

The other blessing Corroundlet left her family is the name of an organization that could help and support them as they navigate this life without her. The One Legacy support group has greatly benefited me, and I am so grateful my mom said "yes." And because my mom said "yes," we get to honor her at the events hosted by OneLegacy.

The woman who loved to talk, kept a big secret, and the secret was Corroundlet Sheard said "Yes." She was a Donor. She was our Mother!
