JAY’S STORY

Jay Walling proudly chose to be an organ/tissue donor and had a pink dot on his driver's license from an early age. Jay was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area before relocating to the Sacramento area. A loyal San Francisco 49ers, Giants, Kings and Sharks Fan, he also loved to deep sea fish for Ahi and Marlin, holding the Hawaiian record for Ahi in 2001. He loved to hunt, attend concerts, and enjoyed traveling and spending time in the Hawaiian Islands.

Jay was a kind, giving and devoted husband and stepfather. At age 64, after a brief and fatal illness, Jay's wish to be an organ/tissue donor came true. His corneas were successfully transplanted into a recipient living in the Midwest. With Jay's cornea's donation, the grateful and proud United States Veteran wrote the family a letter, thanking Jay for the donation and stated he can drive again and continue his volunteer work helping and driving other Veterans to their appointments.

His family is comforted knowing that Jay too, would be proud and honored to give the gift of sight another, and to be honored with a floragraph on the 2025 One Legacy Donate Life Rose Parade Float.
