CHAD’S STORY

Chad Stacy is a son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. His active life involved being outdoors, especially fishing, spending time with family and friends, and working in construction.

After high school, Chad joined the U.S. Marines. He served in the Military Police and experienced two tours of duty in Iraq before returning home to Kansas in 2010. He wanted to become a police officer in his hometown, Olathe, Kansas.

His mom, Linda Isaac, said he was a loving person known for his kindness, a giving nature, and a willingness to always help others. His favorite song was "Amazing Grace."

Linda says his choice to serve rang true to his personality.

"Chad had the most forgiving heart, always willing to go the extra mile. He was a friend to everyone and loved to make people smile."

"He was a father to two beautiful girls, Faith and Payton."

It was no surprise to Linda that Chad was a registered organ, eye, and tissue donor when he passed from a tragic car accident in 2017. He was texting while driving.

As a donor hero, Chad gave tissue, tendons, heart valves, and both corneas. His generosity impacted 157 people – saving and enhancing their lives. Linda receives postcards of travel adventures from one of Chad's tissue recipients because his gift helped restore her mobility after she tore ligaments in her knee.

As a kid, he enjoyed playing Wiffle ball so much that Linda started the Chad Stacy Wiffle Ball Tournament to honor donor heroes and celebrate organ, eye, and tissue recipients. The tournament takes place on the first Saturday in October in Olathe. Over time, they've grown from two playing fields to eight fields and more than 65 players.

"There is so much joy in this day," said Linda. "We share Chad's story and the importance of becoming a registered donor."

Linda dedicates her time as a volunteer Ambassador for the Midwest Transplant Network, the organ procurement organization serving Kansas and western Missouri. The family is excited that Chad is a floragraph honoree. "Excited is an understatement! We are so, so thrilled for this opportunity. Thank you so much."
