KEVIN’S STORY

Kevin Morales Avena had a perfect way of showing his love for his family, relatives, friends, and even strangers. He was born as a premature baby of 2.7 pounds and was in the Intensive Care Unit for more than 2 months. His mother felt that Kevin was very eager to come out and be born to fulfill his life in every aspect he could imagine.

Kevin loved music and played several instruments. One day, his mother's eldest brother and uncle, PJ, gave Kevin an instrument that he couldn't play. PJ took it to a repair shop to fix it but they were unable to make it work. However, as soon as Kevin saw it, checked it, assessed it, and reassembled it, he played it as if nothing was wrong. He was a member of a band from grade school, to high school, and the band was invited to perform at a Jazz band concert in Germany. That's how special Kevin was.

An excellent friend to all, he gave his friend a place to stay, without hesitation, and took care of that friend like family. He is an excellent worker, and his former employers sent his mother messages about how much they loved him and how much they enjoyed working with him wherever he worked. He graduated in Anthropology and worked at Petra for a short time until he passed. He helped many animal charity shelters and even adopted his three dogs, including Nala, whom he adored so much that when she passed in 2018, he was deeply affected.

Kevin loved taking family vacations. Camping was his favorite, along with hiking, and he enjoyed all sports. Kevin enjoyed his life to the fullest, but when COVID came in 2020, a lot of things changed for all of us. He volunteered as a firefighter because he really wanted to be a park ranger, a teacher or a police officer to serve others. When Kevin's short life was taken, his parents did not hesitate to fulfill his desire to help others. Even upon his death, Kevin donated his organs, corneas and tissues. His family was blessed to meet and hear from his recipients. In their heart, they feel that their son fulfilled God's will for him, helping those people and their families live happier, better lives to fulfill God's wishes. After two and a half years, they are still grieving, but honoring him and sharing his story is making it easier to deal with Kevin leaving them so soon. "I'm grateful to God that He gave me 30 years of wonderful memories of my son," said his mother. "I love you forever, I love you for always, till Eternity, and RIP my Beautiful Beloved Son Kevin. On behalf of the Avena Family, we are all grateful to OneLegacy for all the support you have given to us."
