THOMAS’S STORY
Tom Dolan had an unmatched zest for life, something that couldn't be explained, only experienced. As his oldest son, Ryan Dolan, once said, "For such a small package, he had a BIG presence!"
Tom was a powerhouse of energy: hardworking, fiercely loyal to his family and friends, tough as nails, tenderhearted, and full of fun. He had a natural ability to make people laugh and feel at home, creating connections wherever he went.
A visionary and relentless optimist, Tom was always thinking big and looking ahead. This mindset and grit helped him build a thriving career in the automotive industry, expanding his legacy into a major auto group that now represents over 600 employees and their families.
For over 40 years, Tom has prioritized treating every customer and employee like family. That core belief inspired the Dolan Auto Group's motto: "Get in and join the family," a testament to the unique culture of family and community he created, which continues today.
Tom had an enormous heart and was a passionate philanthropist. He often said, "Give until it hurts, and then give some more," and he lived by those words. From building churches to supporting individuals with terminal diagnoses, Tom gave generously of his time, resources, and care.
He was his children's hero and best friend, always in their corner, cheering them on in life and business. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as "Pops." He fought hard to be there for them, undergoing a lung transplant and double bypass surgery in January 2016. After his recovery and as a deeply grateful donor recipient, Tom doubled down on giving back by establishing the Thomas S. Dolan Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center at a local hospital, contributing to the expansion of local schools, and continuing to uplift others in every way he could.
Even in his final moments, Tom remained a giver by becoming a tissue donor and offering the gift of sight to others. He built a family, a business, and a legacy of service that continues to inspire and carry his mission forward.
