Erma was a fun-loving wife, mother and sister. She enjoyed working for the City of San Marino’s preschool and library. She loved her family, Hosea Chapel Church, friends, dancing and giving to others. On May 27, 2012, she suffered a brain aneurysm and was later pronounced brain dead. Through her prior decision to be an organ donor, Erma was able to donate her kidneys, liver and tissue. Her family believes that although she is absent in body, she is rejoicing in heaven for the lives that were prolonged through God’s plan.

Erma’s Story
Erma Saldate was a fun-loving wife, mother and sister. She enjoyed working for the City of San Marino’s preschool and library. She loved her family, Hosea Chapel Church, friends, dancing and giving to others.
On May 27, 2012, Erma suffered a brain aneurysm and was later pronounced brain dead. Erma’s family was informed that she had registered to become an organ donor. Erma’s daughter, Darlene said, “Organ donation was not something our family ever spoke about, but that action itself illuminated who my mother was. She always gave.”
Erma was able to donate her kidneys, liver and tissue. Erma’s family directed her kidneys to be donated to a brother and sister, family friends of 16 years who both were in need of kidney transplants.
Several of Erma’s family members have become OneLegacy Ambassadors, working with local DMV offices and raising awareness about the Donate Life mission. Darlene said, “Donate Life has been a great sense of support and community for our family. The opportunities given to volunteer and participate amongst other donor families and recipients have assisted in our grieving process. Being part of so many activities and beautiful events has brought our family hope and healing.”
Erma’s legacy is carried on in memory, through her family and through the lives she saved. Her family believes that although she is absent in body, she is rejoicing in heaven for the lives that were prolonged through God’s plan.
Matthew 10:8 “Give as freely as you have received.”
