Kevin was a genuinely warm and kind person and had a smile that lit up a room. He loved to laugh and perform his famous magic tricks. Kevin had a deep love for his family and friends and was looking forward to starting a family of his own someday. Kevin was a skilled cable technician who was held in high regards by his peers and clients. On September 10, 2014, Kevin fell from his ladder while at work and two days later, he passed away. Through organ donation, Kevin is able to continue working his magic. A 2 year old boy is now running and playing after receiving Kevin’s right kidney; the man who received his left kidney and liver is thriving; and his heart recipient was able to walk five miles just nine months after transplant. Kevin’s family says, “Giving life to others is the perfect way for Kevin to continue his journey.”
Kevin’s Story
At age 31, Kevin David Sullivan was healthy, upbeat, and had a genuine enthusiasm for life. He had a deep love for his family and friends and was looking forward to starting a family of his own someday. Kevin loved to laugh and perform his famous magic tricks. He could be goofy and quirky, yet level-headed and articulate. His warmth, humility, and positive outlook inspired happiness and his presence brightened those around him.
Kevin had a unique ability to relate to people and took the time to listen. He was honest, fair, and mindful to treat people the way he would like to be treated.
Kevin enjoyed learning about the universe and was passionate about science and technology. He was a skilled cable technician and was held in high regard by his peers and clients. He was the ‘go to guy’ for technical help for his co-workers, family, and friends. On September 10, 2014, Kevin fell from his ladder while at work. He suffered severe brain trauma and passed away two days later surrounded by family and friends.
Through organ donation, Kevin is able to continue working his magic. A 2 year old boy is now running and playing after receiving Kevin’s right kidney, the man who received his left kidney and liver is thriving, and his heart recipient was able to walk five miles just nine months after transplant. Kevin’s tissue, corneas, and bones will help many others.
We have been profoundly moved by the many ways our friends and family are honoring Kevin. Although we sincerely miss him, we are blessed with the awareness of how Kevin has enriched the lives of others. So many people have taken the time to share stories of how Kevin showed sensitivity and compassion to them at a difficult time, offered a helping hand, or simply made their day brighter. The most rewarding stories are of those who have become organ donors after seeing the power of organ donation through Kevin’s selfless gift of life. Giving life to others is the perfect way for him to continue his journey.
