Dyllan was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend.  He was a hardworking, kindhearted young man, who lived every day to the fullest. Dyllan had just completed his first year at the University of Iowa, majoring in Pre-Medicine, when on June 30, 2011, where he was involved in a car accident that left him with major head trauma. Dyllan was able to save the lives of four people through organ donation – two of which were directed donations to friends of his family.  The DCL Foundation was established following his passing to help raise awareness for organ and tissue donation and brain injury awareness. Through his amazing gifts, Dyllan continues to live, love, and give every day, and his beautiful life and spirit will never be forgotten.

Dyllan’s Story

Sparkling eyes, beautiful smile, and a contagious laugh – that is our Dyllan.  He was also a hardworking, kindhearted young man, who lived every day to the fullest.

Dyllan was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend.  Dyllan had just completed his first year at the University of Iowa, majoring in Pre-Medicine, when on June 30, 2011, he was involved in a car accident that left him with major head trauma.  He passed on the following day, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 19.

Dyllan was able to save the lives of four people through organ donation – two of which were directed donations to friends of his family.  He was also able to enhance the lives of 50-100 others with his gifts of bone, tissue, skin, and saphenous veins.

The DCL Foundation was established following his passing to help raise awareness for Organ and Tissue donation and brain injury awareness.  An annual 5k Run/Walk is held in Dyllan’s small hometown of Moulton, Iowa, to help raise funds for the Iowa Donor Network, and a local scholarship is given out to one or more deserving seniors at Dyllan’s high school each year.

Through his amazing gifts, Dyllan continues to give, live, and love every day, and his beautiful life and spirit will never be forgotten.
