Kelly’s Story
Kelly’s presence was spirited with Cajun flare. Kelly was born July 9, 1987, with big blue eyes and black spiked hair. He graduated from Breaux Bridge Senior High in 2005 where he played football and basketball. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force and followed family tradition by becoming a Firefighter. Kelly served two years in the Middle East and upon his return to the USA; he lived in Mississippi as an active firefighter for Columbus Air Force Base. He later returned to his home in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana anxiously awaited by family and friends.
Kelly’s presence came with exposure to his exceptional personality, amazing sense of humor, and infectious laughter. These traits resulted in many cherished and heart connected friendships. Kelly’s love of music and concerts meant spending time with family and friends and possessing some of the “sweetest” of dance moves. Those cherished times spent with Kelly during his short life are a blessing to us now.
Kelly was called home on November 4, 2012, at the tender age of 25 as a result of a tragic accident in which he suffered traumatic brain injury. Kelly’s impact on people in his lifetime and his accomplishments left his family and friends proud. Nothing could prepare us for the next phase of Kelly’s legacy. Our loving, sweet, funny, “Blue Eye’d Bubba” would now provide his family and friends with a whole new level of pride; by his choice of organ donation, he would now be saving lives through his death. Our blessings today are the part of him that lives on through others. Knowing that he lives on, saved five lives, and gave vision to two people in need through his generous act of kindness and organ donation is heartwarming.
