JILL’S STORY
Jill Marie Collier-Kerr was born May 26th, 1978, in San Diego California. She grew up in San Marcos, California with her parents, Jack and Robin, and her brothers Chris, Jack-Anthony, and Justin. Jill’s sons, Christiann and David were her greatest joy and proudest accomplishments. In January 2006, she married the love of her life, Greg Kerr, in Costa Rica. Her beauty was expressed in her relationships with her family and friends and her passions, which included aerial silks, playing piano, dancing, boating, surfing, and cheering on her husband at his hockey games. While she loved to travel different places, the beaches of San Diego were always her favorite destination. And although she lived in Nevada, her heart was anywhere tropical and sandy.
Jill’s life calling was to care for others. She graduated with Honors from Nevada State College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing. After clinical experience in the Neuro ICU at Sunrise Hospital, she accepted a position upon graduating. In 2015, she received the Daisy Foundation Award in recognition of her exceptional patient care, knowledge, and ability to instill faith, trust, and confidence in her patients and patients’ families. The Daisy Foundation Award is a national award that is presented to nurses who are recognized as extraordinary. Jill was extraordinary. Jill was passionate about life, her family, and friends. Her greatest passion was, however, her career as a Neuro ICU RN. As a nurse she often interacted directly with families, comforting them about their loved ones’ wishes to donate their organs. Jill made it her personal goal to advocate organ donation several years ago. If you met Jill it would not be long until you heard her speech to encourage you to register to become a donor. Through her passing, she gave the hope of life to seven others across the nation. Jill will be in our hearts forever.
