JOSH’S STORY
Joshua David Pearlman was born prematurely on November 5, 1977. Weighting in at 4 lbs and 8 oz., he overcame the normal hurdles associated with early births.
Growing up, Josh was a typical playful, busy and curious child. There was a preference to be outdoors, which he treasured and respected. He also enjoyed working with his hands. Josh would usually be found tearing apart electronics or small kitchen appliances to view their inner workings. Tinkering became a specialty that kept his mind happy.
The term “old soul” would best describe Josh. He walked his own path when seeking knowledge, wisdom and truth. Conventional school teachings did not fit into his wheelhouse. He relished reading, watching documentaries, touring museums and always listening to an older generation recount their life stories.
Josh dabbled in many sports and hobbies. From ice-skating to gardening, he covered many bases. Among his favorites were dirt bike riding, in which he received a first place trophy in his racing class. The love of music, ranging from the 1960’s to the 90’s, inspired Josh to teach himself the guitar. He enjoyed hunting with his uncles, but his true passion was fishing, where he earned the nickname “the fish whisperer”.
Josh was compassionate and loyal. He loved helping friends and family in any way possible. One of Josh’s proudest moments was the birth of his son, Nolan Michael Pearlman, born December 7, 2005. Josh cherished his role as father.
For Josh’s family, being a donor brought two of his beautiful qualities together, one being a giver, and the other always wanting to help others when he could. Josh made that important choice when receiving his driver’s license.
Each year Josh’s family honors him by participating in the Donate Life Run/Walk and the Donate Life Rose Parade float. They are so proud of Josh and the unselfish decision he made as a young man to be a registered donor. This year is extra special, as his family is overwhelmed with pride and joy, knowing that he will be honored on the Donate Life float.
